Survival

Chapter 1: Lupa

I'm Lupa, a wolf who is not popular like some of the other wolves in my pack.

I do things by myself, like inventing wolf-skating, which is when you use your claws and try to skate  on all fours, and that's one of the reasons. The other is that I'm really bad at hunting.

Once, that was a snow hare, which are very hard to catch when you're young and I almost caught it when I slipped on some thin ice. The ice broke and I got stuck in really cold water and everybody laughed at me.

And that's why I'm not popular like some people in the pack, but I can tell you who is the most popular wolf in the pack: Alpha.

He's popular because his dad is the leader of the pack and because he's never done anything embarrassing like wolf-skating. Also because he's got a posse and nobody's got that, especially me.

Chapter 2: Announcement

Suddenly, a wolf said to go in the ice cave. I know what this is.

The wolf was telling me to go there because that's where everybody in the pack goes to for a meeting and that wolf that told me to go to the ice cave was a messenger sent by the leader of the pack, Alpha's dad.

I went to the ice cave and were lots of wolves when I went in, and I'm guessing that the whole pack is here.

Suddenly Arron, the leader of the pack, started to speak.

"I have brought you all here because the United Peace Medal is gone, but there was a note in Wolf Ink and it said that it's in Moonlight Cliff in Nunavut" said Arron.

"I would find it, but my bones are getting weaker because of my age and soon I will die, so I want all of you wolves to find it."

"But you do not have to join the hunt if you don't want to, but that would be a disgrace to who chooses that path, but like I said, you don't have to join the hunt."

"Now those who want to do the search, you will be in groups of ten and the first group that gets the United Peace Medal back here will get a reward, but I can't tell you that. Any questions?"

I put my hand up.

"What is the United Peace Medal?" I ask.

"You don't know?" Arron said in surprise.

Suddenly everybody looks at me in surprise.

"The United Peace Medal is what keeps the Moose, the Elk, the Wolf (that's us), and Bison nations from not being at war" Arron explained.

"And when the sun rises to the north, which is in two months time and the United Peace Medal is not presented at the nations meeting, there will be war."

"Any more questions?" Arron asks.  "Good."

"Now off to the hunt!"

And we all leave the ice cave.

Chapter 3: Finding Wolves For the Team

I began searching for wolves and that isn't easy because of the big bunches of wolves packed together, but in the end, I found nine wolves that whose in my opinion, good and  here are the wolves:

1. Striker

2. Killer

3: Wolfgang (not the composer)

4. Moonlight

5: Rebecca

6: Hunter

7: Rosa

8: Luna

9. Sliver

And then there's me. Right now we're talking about the route to Moonlight Cliff.

Chapter 4: The Route to Moonlight Cliff

We are right now discussing about the route to Moonlight Cliff, seeing which way are the shortcuts and most efficient ways to go the way.

"We should go to Hunter Woods because it's a shortcut and it saves fifteen minutes than if you go the regular way" said Striker.

"But going though Hunter Woods is dangerous" said Moonlight.

In the end, the route to Moonlight Cliff was:

1. Go to Hunter Woods.

2. Go to Okami Falls.

3. Go to Icicle Caves.

4. Go to Good Luck Mountain, (or Godo Lku Monutan).

5. Moonlight Cliff.

Tomorrow we're going to travel to get the United Peace Medal back to it's true home: all the animal nations.

Chapter 5: Traveling to Hunter Woods

Day one, 319 km to Moonlight Cliff

The next morning, we started our trip to get the United Peace Medal and the first step to go is Hunter Woods.

Hunter Woods is very far, roughly 50 kilometers from the pack, but Okami Falls is very far, being about 90 kilometers from the pack.

I calculated that the distance from the pack to Moonlight Cliff is 339 kilometers and also  double that because we have to go back to the pack, so now that's 648 kilometers in two months!

Right now, we're halfway to Hunter Woods and we don't see the other teams. Maybe they already came past Hunter Woods in the other way or they the other teams are way behind us and we just can't see them, but that's not likely.

Suddenly when we reached forty kilometers, it was already dark and we stopped and slept for the night. Tomorrow, we'll finish the trip to Hunter Woods.

Chapter 6: In Hunter Woods

Day 2, 289 km to Moonlight Cliff

We woke up and finished the last ten kilometers to Hunter Woods.

Then we went inside the forest, for no one has ever survived in the dangerous forest and lived to tell the dangers of Hunter Woods.

Hunter Woods is dark and makes you get a mysterious feeling about what's to happen in   here.

Suddenly I saw shadows, but no one could see them they were camouflaged by the pitch-black but I could for some reason.

I noticed that the deeper we went inside Hunter Woods, the faster the shadows moved around.

But then when we took one last into the forest, the shadows stopped moving and jumped on us and attacked.

There were ten, judging by each member of our group of ten got to fight one of the mysterious creatures that looked like shadows of the night.

Suddenly when I scratched my foe very hard, he retreated away and did all of the creatures as they went away with the one that I hurt.

We suddenly saw snow and we all ran to it because in the forest, all we saw was dark and were glad to see a familiar thing that we wolves see everyday: snow.

Chapter 7: Dead Wolves

Day 3, 269 km to Moonlight Cliff

Today we saw dead wolves, and their blood stained the snow, making the blood look like dye.

There were ten, so it was one of the teams searching for the United Peace Medal and it was Alpha's team.

Alpha's blood spilled on the snow the most out of all the wolves of his team and he had the most wounds than the others.

There were four teams at the start of the journey. Now there are three. We have to survive to win. This is survival.

Chapter 8: Passing Okami Falls

Day 4, 185 km to Moonlight Cliff

We woke up the next morning and began to go though the falls.

We were right beside Okami Falls, so that was nice.

I know that you can't swim though falls, you would drown. We wolves have a way of going past Okami Falls that the humans don't know how.

Long ago, there was lots of ice on water and it was like this for hundreds of years.

One day, the ice broke and the water rushed so quickly that it's said that the wolves at the rushing water were so scared that they lost their voices.

The wolves that were near the rushing water that heard it, they told our pack's boy alpha and girl alpha about the rushing water and they named it Okami Flas: Wolf Falls.

But there was one big piece of ice that had glued itself the end of Okami Falls and that's why wolves can cross the falls.

The humans sadly don't know about this, because there are no humans here and before the ice cracked, they moved to a different place and any wolf that shows a human about the falls now, the wolf will die.

We crossed the falls and it's nice to see the running water because I never get to see it because it's so far away from the pack and the others probably never get to see the falls too.

Chapter 9: Bad Weather at Icicle Caves

Day 5, 205 km to Moonlight Cliff

Today, we were hit with bad weather, and that was not fun.

"It's a snowstorm, let's go!" shouted Moonlight though the snowstorm.

"No, it's a hailstorm!" yelled Striker.

"Shut up you two!" shouted Rosa though Striker and Moonlight's argument.

The snowstorm chased us for a long time, but we soon found our safe haven: a small cave.

We would have traveled more, but we were tired and slowly we were fast asleep.

Chapter 10: More Bad Luck

Day 6, 205 km to Moonlight Cliff

We had more bad luck today, and it was worse than the snowstorm yesterday.

Today, Hunter broke his leg when we were fighting some wolves that were attacking us.

They were ten of them, one of the wolves had the mark that I did in Hunter Woods... They were the same wolves that attacked us in Hunter Woods.

We think that Hunter's leg will heal in a month or so, and that's too long because we have to first get to Moonlight Cliff and back. I'm trying to see how we can travel with Hunter's broken leg, but I haven't got got any good ideas.

Maybe I should sleep on it, plus it's getting late.

Chapter 11: Wolf-boarding

Day 7, 155 km to Moonlight Cliff

Well, I slept on it and I got a very good idea that might work. It's another crazy invention.

Remember wolf-skating? This time I made wolf-boarding.

It took me some time to make, but I made a big board out of wood that should fit all of us.

I stole the wood one of the villages near by us.

Then I clawed on the bark to make it smooth and made it comfortable for us. That's really how you make a wolf-board.

Right now, the others are coming but Hunter because f his broken leg. I'll show him later.

"I have something to show you guys" I say.

"What is it?" Wolfgang asks.

"The first wolf-board" I answer.

"What's a wolf-board?" asks Striker.

"This" I say.

I throw the tarp from the wolf-board (I stole that too from the village), and the guys see it.

They all look surprised at it and I'm very happy to hear that nobody is laughing at it and that they're amazed at the creation that I made.

"It's amazing" I heard Rosa say.

"Thank you" I say to Rosa.

They all said that the wolf-board was amazing and some even said that it was incredible. It's looks like people believe in me.

We go to Icicle Caves but when we get there, we're very sleepy and we just let our eyelids go heavy and let our heads dream.

Chapter 12: Wolf-Skating in Icicle Caves

Day 8, 135 km to Moonlight Cliff

At Icicle Caves, it's very icy, so all the wolves fell down on the ice, (but Hunter) and for me because of wolf-skating.

I didn't show them yet, but I'm waiting for the right moment to show them.

Then I sensed the right moment and that's when I got their attention.

"Want some help on the ice, guys" I say.

"They all rapidly nod and say "yes".  Time to show them another trick by me.

I show them wolf-skating and they're all impressed by this new talent of mine. Two days of impressing. Amazing.

We wolf-skated all though the end of Icicle Caves and then stopped and ended another fun day of adventure.

Chapter 13: Bad Luck on Godo Lku Monutan

Day 9, 165 km to Moonlight Cliff

On Godo Lku Monutan (or Good Luck Mountain), we had bad luck, very bad luck.

We got ambushed by wolves and we were so surprised that some of us fell back and hurt ourselves badly.

We went off the mountain at rapid speed and when we saw a safe place, we looked at everybody's injuries they got from the ambush.

The wolves that were injured were put in one group while the wolves that weren't hurt looked at the number of injuries from each wolf.

When we tallied the number of injuries: there were:

2 broken legs

4 sprained ankles

17 scratches

The sprained ankles would heal in a one or two weeks and wolves with the sprained ankles said there isn't much pain but we think that we should wait.

The broken leg wolves will stay in the wolf-board for now when we travel.

Suddenly I got a great idea: now to show them my plan.

Chapter 14: U.F.W (Unidentified Flying Wolf-board)

Day 10, 65 km to Moonlight Cliff

I told them my idea and they liked it and we thought that we would be to win this battle to climb.

The wolves that only had a couple of scratches (me, Wolfgang, Striker, and Moonlight), went up the mountain and saw the wolves that ambushed us yesterday.

They went down the mountain slowly, but watching our movements in case we get away.

Suddenly, the four of us went to one side of the mountain.

The wolves that ambushed us didn't notice fast enough because we gave the signal and a wolf-board went flying in the air and hit the wolves.

They flew in the air and got very much hurt. That's what they did to us.

We had a backup wolf-board to carry the very much injured. We'd never throw away anything if we didn't have a backup.

We even added some ropes that you are like rings that your heads go though and carry the people inside to places you where they want to go.

When the injured got in the wolf-board, the four of us got our heads though the rings of  rope and we traveled to the up and the bottom of Good Luck Mountain where we reach the United Peace Medal.

Chapter 15: The Battle For the United Peace Medal

Day 11, 0 km to Moonlight Cliff

Right now, we're at Moonlight Cliff and the wolves that attacked us at Hunter Woods and Good Luck Mountain are here and ready for battle.

Remember the wolf I scratched on the face at Hunter Woods? He's the leader of his nine wolves and his name is Lupus.

My pack was ready and then we fought against each other, slashing and knocking one another. It's looks like both of packs are equal in fighting skills.

While the battle went on, I was searching for a spot to get the United Peace Medal without the other pack noticing.

Suddenly, I saw nobody was in the way of the United Peace Medal and then I went as fast as I could, only to be ambushed by Lupus as he lunged at me.
We were fighting, but when he lost focus on me for a second, he slashed him as hard as I could and then I pinned him down to the ground.

"Tell your pack to stop fighting and let us have the United Peace Medal. Nobody will get hurt." I said.

"OK" said Lupus.

Then the fighting stopped.

I told my pack to stop fighting and not to hurt anyone and then I got the United Peace Medal and we ran away.

Chapter 16: Special Speaking

One month later

Today is the day the United Peace Medal get presented to all the other three animal nations and the Wolf nation.

I told Arron that Alpha died finding the United Peace Medal.

He was calm about that I told him about his son and he said that he was proud that Alpha died trying to find a very important thing.

When everybody was assembled, Arron told me and the nine to go up and speak for us.

"We found the United Peace Medal, but weren't the only ones finding this very important thing that brings us together " I said.

"Alpha and his group of nine wolves died trying to find what many were trying to do too" said Striker.

"Others members died too because only our group came to back to the pack" said Wolfgang.

"We got attacked at Hunter Woods and we fought Lupus's wolves at Moonlight Cliff" Killer said.

"The ten of us won at Moonlight Cliff and got the United Peace Medal back here" added Luna.

"Lupa taught us to wolf-skate and to wolf-board at Icicle Caves" said Rosa.

"We attacked Lupus's wolves with the flying wolf-board at Good Luck Mountain" said Rebecca.

"Hunter broke his leg in the middle of our journey" said Sliver.

"That's right" said Hunter proudly.

"And we never gave up" said Moonlight.

"Any questions?" I asked to everybody here.

"It was a long journey, right?" a bison asked.

"A very long journey" I said.

"Any more?" I asked.

"Good job in finding United Peace Medal" said a little wolf.

"Thank you" I said.

And then we all left the room.

Chapter 17: Reward Talking

After the special speaking by us, Arron told us to come with him to talk about something important.

"Let's go somewhere where we can talk in private" said Arron quietly.

We went to a place that was a bit out the pack and suddenly he stopped moving and started to talk.

"I have forgotten that I said at the announcement at the start of the hunt" began Arron.

"That the team that brings the United Peace Medal back to the pack would get a reward."

"We don't need a reward" I said.

"I could tell everybody that all of you to be better treated" answered Arron.

"We already are better treated" Luna said.

"When we got the United Peace Medal back to the four animal nations, I felt that we were better treated because they were all saying good comments about us and the United Peace Medal."

"But what about the other nine?" asked Arron.

"Let's make a deal: if the other nine feel that they are better treated than what they felt in the past, no reward: If they feel the same as in the past, you may give us the reward" Luna spoke.

"Deal?" asked Luna.

"Deal" replied Arron.

Chapter 18: Remembrance

Luna was right: all of us are now better respected because me and nine felt better treated because wolves didn't make fun of us if we did something not right and we were in some fun things and we all felt like the world is one big happy family.

Arron said that later in the future, animals would forget all of us and what we did.

Luna didn't agree to this and said that nobody will forget us and what we did and she was right about this when three wolves from our pack built a memorial of the ten of us out of wood, all of running though the snow.

Me and the nine will definitely go down in history because of this memorial and animals will remember all us and what we did deep in the future because this will be passed on and on from generation to generation and no matter how much an animal may forget, the memory of us will be inside their head and later they may remember and tell the tale to others.
