Nightstars 2

To R.R, his book Percy Jackson gave me the idea for Hazel.

Nightstars 2: A New Nightstar

Chapter 1: A New Nightstar

Hazel was in the hands in hawks, in a jail, rotting and there were hawks watching the bird carefully because she was said to be "the queen of the owls"  and they caught her when she was hunting.

Her parents were dead and she was alone, hunting or flying around in free open space maybe but she was always doing something.

"I'm in a cage, and in the slimy hands of these hawks!" she yelled, and shook the cage violently.

Oh, shut up, girl!" one of the hawks yelled at her.

When am I going to be free? No clue, but I want out! Sadly, I was stupid, and I end up here!

I was trying to find ways to get out of the cage, and suddenly something pulled and I was free!

Next, I picked up a rock, and said "Hey, I see an owl over there!" I pointed to a cage with an owl in it.

The hawk was about to go the cage with the owl in it, when I threw the rock at the hawk, and he was knocked out.

The hawks went after me, but I went to the owl in the cage, and got him out of there, and we went out, the both of us.

The owl thanked me for letting him be free, and then left, flying in the air, free again, but hey, I did a good deed for an owl.

I've heard of Nightstars, and thought "maybe I'm a Nightstar", freeing that owl from the hawks, a nation rising power and spreading a war around the world of birds, everybody scared out of their minds and the world turning cold.

Chapter 2: Wing

I was bored in the camp but the camp was good, relaxing and a lot more peaceful than before, flying away from hawks, going to place to place but this is better but I'm bored; I mean, there is nothing to do and that's the problem.

My friends are enjoying the camp nicely, just talking to the other owls really but I've told them not to talk to anybody but they never listen.

When I got here, they told me, Roy and Squirrely, that we were Nightstars, that we were slipping out of hawk hands, and that we were all doing teamwork: working with one another, and helping all of us alive but I didn't free everybody or anything like that but he sensed that my Nightstar power is growing and I was a true friend to all.

I was playing with a stick, using it as a sword, fighting my imagination, bored but in a hard battle, blocking near defeats of myself and also trying to slice my foe but my imagination would block my slices too.

We were now using big moves and knocking one another away but the two of us were still alive, the fight rolling on, maybe I will win or my foe will win.

Chapter 3: Dresfer and Rolaf

The names "Dresfer and Rloaf" are almost owlen names: good guy names but my real name and Rloaf's name are Drsfre and Rlofa, Dear and Royal.

I don't why my parents- correction, my dad named me, and named me Dear, and my
mom named my brother Roslet, in English, Rose. I met Rloaf when I was four and escaped later.

Our mission is to kill Wing, an owl that is said later to be the, the thing that will destroy the hawks' forever.

I went be myself, and planed that we rendez-vouz at Raven Hill, a quarter of a mile from the rebels (we like to call them) , base.

We traveled all day and rested for the night and the next morning we woke up and flew in the morning sky, the wind gently blowing in our fur and the smell of the salty sea hovering in the air too.

Chapter 4: War and Wrong Tunnel

White owls marched to our camp, each carrying a gun in their wings and a quiver full of arrows strapped on their backs. They were maybe an ally of the hawks but not mentioned by anybody.

The camp's soldiers were in place and the white owls shot at the camp's soldiers shot at them and Roslet told all the camp owls to follow him to a hiding spot.

Some enemy soldiers were following us, but some soldiers fought them but more and more people rushed in the crowd of people and soldiers started to go in the hole that lead the safe place (which I have no clue what or where that is) , that confused the three of us and we were about to go to another tunnel, and we went in the wrong tunnel and we are now lost.

It's another adventure for the three of us but the problem remains unsolved: What do we do now that we were alone but there are some answers: run again from the hawks, and survive on our own, or sit and wait for help. Two things to pick and only one can be chosen.

What to pick, the pick that's the most wise of them all.

We chose to run and survive, because if we wait, help may not come and we will run out out of food, and die of hunger.

But how do we find our way out of the tunnels? How do we? Because I know that there is nothing to eat and we will die, so either way, we will die if we don't find the way out of the tunnels.

Chapter 5: Hazel in the Tunnels

I am in the tunnels, trapped in the maze in tunnels, maybe one will lead to the exit, or maybe one will not lead the right way.

Suddenly I heard something, and I thought it may be somebody that is trying to find the way out too, or maybe it a hawk or hawks but I sensed that it's a friend.

"Hello?" I called out.

"Yes?" it answered back.

"What is your name?" it asked.

"My name is Hazel" I called back.

I met who was calling me, and it- they were three owls that I met and their names were Wing, Roy, and Squirrely.

They were pretty nice guys but the one I liked best of the three is Wing. He told me some of his life and I told him that I was caught by the hawks and was prisoner, and I escaped and freed another owls and how two days later, another petrol saw me and chased me to the tunnels and later I got lost and I heard a noise and saw that it was a group of owls that got lost in the tunnels too.

"Dresfer and Rloaf " I said. "Darkness and Revenge."

"Who are they?" Wing asked.

"They are very dangerous hawks who work for the hawks, but are owls" I answered back to Wing.

Chapter 6: Wing Gets to Meet Dresfer

Wing slipped from my wings but I know that Wing is in the tunnels and so is Hazel! The two in one place! The perfect time to get my wings (no Rloaf with me) on these two lovebirds!

I got to the tunnels, and found them! Then I ambushed them, and they all ran like mice!

Suddenly Hazel tripped and fell and I caught her and got her to the starting of the tunnels and I managed to escape before Wing could catch up to me!

Sorry that Rloaf wasn't able in time to meet me at Raven Hill but he'll need to think now.

Chapter 7: Sadness

How did Dresfer find me? Was Hazel hiding something? Maybe but I am not so sure.

Sadness was all around me and also Roy and Squirrely too.

I liked Hazel a bit because she was nice, kind, showed me some tricks but I sensed that she had some sadness too but maybe it was because all her kin died but maybe because she was hiding something that was sad in her life.

I had sad moments too, like when my friend died- he died from the humans. I was with my friend, when a kid threw something sharp, and it killed him and he was very young. I bought him to the tree but it was too late: he died.

Roy and Squirrely were talking with themselves when we were traveling in the tunnels, bored maybe but also they were losing hope that we would never find the way out of the  tunnels but I knew that if we all try, we will be rewarded: the end of the tunnels.

But first we need hope, because we will die if we don't, we will die and all of our bones will be on display for others that walk in the tunnels.

Chapter 8: The End of the Tunnels, but the Journey is not Over

I told Roy and Squirrely about my plan (which really isn't a plan) , and we were full of hope but I sensed that the end of the tunnels was soon to be over.

I was thinking about Hazel and thought where she was and my first thought was "she's in prison again" , but she's a very smart thinker and I think she will be free again.

Suddenly I saw a light! We got closer and closer and it was the end of the tunnels! Yay!

But it wasn't the end of the journey yet but we got to the end of the tunnels.

Chapter 9: Traveling South

We traveled south and stopped to rest a little later. I caught dinner and we ate and then we went to sleep.

The next morning we woke up and relaxed in the sunlight, enjoying every spot of warmth but we knew that we had to move again.

We flew till lunchtime and we ate and waited 20 minutes for our stomachs to digest and then we flew again, ate dinner and then went to bed.

I was thinking about Hazel, what was happening in her world. Was she suffering pain from the hawks, or was she happy again, her spirit free, or maybe something else?

Chapter 10: Heading to Mexico

We woke to a new day, rising from our sleep, bidding good morning to everybody and ready to begin a new day and first we ate breakfast, traveled a bit and an hour later we found a place and ate lunch. Then we traveled a half a mile longer and stopped to rest and make this our camp for the rest of the day. We later had dinner and went to sleep.

We haven't been the view of hawks, and thinking "where are they?",  Maybe we're going to find Hazel in a hawk base soon, or they're going to catch us, or...

I have so many questions that need answers, like "where is Hazel", or maybe "where are we?"

Are Roy and Squirrely suffering pain and I wonder how are they. Maybe they sense danger or are having the same thoughts as me?

The next morning, we woke up and had breakfast, flew a few miles and ate lunch.

The weather was warmer, a bit of it is because it's close to summer and because we're getting closer to hotter regions like Mexico and Texas.

We flew a few miles after lunch and later ate dinner and went to bed.

It was hard to sleep, because of the heat and also because I wasn't really tired. Not because of my Hazel thoughts but for some reason I couldn't sleep. So I stayed awake, looking at the stars, making out constellations. It was about 2:00 AM when I heard something in the bushes. It was just a bird, sitting there, doing nothing.

Later, I went to sleep and before I knew it, dawn was rising, making a new morning and a new day.

We ate, flew about 5 miles, and then stopped to rest and stay there for lunch.

We were around the border of Mexico, the land of tacos and salsa, roughly about 40 miles from the border and we were be there in about a week.

We flew again, had dinner and went to bed. The next morning, we ate, flew a few miles and stopped for lunch. Then flew for about 6 miles and had dinner and went to sleep.

6 days later.

6 days later, we got to the Mexican border and finally we reached our goal. It wasn't really a goal but we made it to Mexico and I'm wishing for some sunny days, because it's Mexico.

Chapter 11: I Found Hazel

It was very sunny and Roy and Squirrely are enjoying the buffet. We need to eat and the only place to eat are in the hotels but in the human language it's something else but I keep it simple and call them hotels but the hotels are a lot different: like the normal hotels are just one building but these are more than one place, like the beach and buffet but the annoying thing is that is full of humans, of course and people may see Roy steal a piece of watermelon and eating it and that's bad.

I know that we only eat meat but with these new foods like watermelon, I can't stop wanting to eat the new foods but they taste so good!

Right now, Roy and Squirrely are pigging out at the snack bar, the buffet, even when I told them to not to go in there, because of the humans but they don't listen.

They returned from the buffet and even brought me a slice of watermelon!

We had dinner and then we went to bed. The next morning we had breakfast from the buffet and then we relaxed in the sun, tanning our fur but we had to relax in the palm trees, because of the humans and we relaxed there for a little bit.

Then we ate lunch and I flew around the hotel and looked at the view and it was wonderful: the beach, the buffet and the rooms. I forgot to tell you that.

I met with Roy and Squirrely, ate dinner and went to bed.

We've spent two or three days here in Mexico but I missed Canada, my homeland, but I still liked Mexico but I like Canada too.

Why did the bombing start? Why can it be that the world is at peace but sadly, the world isn't that way, peace. First the world's at peace, and then the stupid hawks bomb us, and the world smashed and now we have to survive, survive every move the hawks do and block it. The world is sometimes crazy.

The next morning we ate breakfast and relaxed and then we ate lunch, I flew around the beach but at a lower view and ate dinner and went to bed.

The next morning, I thought of flying around and that I may find see something.

I looked and looked and now I was lost. No Roy, and no Squirrely, nobody was around me, no living soul but suddenly I saw something: a hawk! Now that's what you never found anywhere! I thought that the hawk would lead me to the hiding place Hazel is at!

The hawk saw me and flew away from me and I chased him. Suddenly, I saw a building and lots and lots of hawks!

"Owl, owl!" the hawk yelled to the others.

They all flew away from me, if I was a giant or something but I came to get Hazel, not to  scare hawks away.

I found her and got her but the hawks were now in trapping mode and it's scary when a lot of hawks are looking like they're about to smash you in pieces.

We slashed the hawks, tearing them to the ground but slashing for escape. Me and Hazel got out of the hawk base but suddenly I saw something: Roy and Squirrely!

"Wing!" they cried in unison. "Hazel!"

 "Hi guys!" she greeted them.

We returned to the hotel and I showed her around the place and Squirrely brought her a slice of watermelon.

"I hope you like it"  said Squirrely.

 "Thank you, Squirrely" said Hazel.

"Welcome."

She enjoyed the place, and she thanked me for saving her.

"Thank you, Wing" she said.

I said nothing, because I was watching the waves. They were gently rolling but noisy at times but the waves were also like somebody's mood, sometimes mad, sometimes happy, or sometimes calm, or maybe gentle, like Hazel's voice, soft as silk, or happy as an parrot, happy sounds coming from the parrot's beak.

We had a good time but after we met Roy and Squirrely for dinner and then we went to bed.

Chapter 12: Fight

The mood in the war room is not happy but very grumpy indeed, for the news of the escape of Hazel is the topic today.

"We need better people, we need better SOLDERS!" he slammed his wing on the table.

"I know sir, but, but..." stammered the lieutenant.

"Dresfer, Rloaf, why didn't you kill Wing but you bring me HAZEL?!" "That girl is useless!" yelled the general.

"But sir, we know where they are, an-?"

"QUIET, Dresfer,!" shouted the general. "You are nothing but a worthless pawn in my game and so is your friend Rloaf!"

"Guys, calm down" said the lieutenant. "The more you bicker, the worse things get."

"Sir, I've got a great idea" said Dresfer. "We know where Wing and Hazel are, and I thought that me and Rloaf should chase them to the where we are and then we'll have them surrounded and then we trapped them."

"Very good, very good, Dresfer, very good" said the general. "Now I ask of you and Rloaf to leave."

"Yes sir" said Dresfer.

We found them, chased them and brought them to the general.

"Help!" they cried.

They did this for a long time and then the general and the lieutenant came and got them to the prison.

"Good work, Dresfer!" cheered the general and then he congratulated Rloaf.

And Wing and Hazel are sure not happy about that, I bet.

Right now, the mood in the jail is not happy but they didn't just get Wing and Hazel, they also got Roy and Squirrely.

"How did we fall for that trap!?" shouted Wing.

"We just did, Wing" answered Roy. "And I know, Wing, we're all angry, not just you but all of us."

I said nothing, but the boys continued to argue and now I felt all alone and I wished this never happened, because now, anger is rising and all hope is gone, maybe forever, or maybe for a short time and then Wing and the boys can finally stop arguing.

In the meantime, I'll find a way out of the jail and it gives me something to cure my boredom.

I tried and tried but nothing happened and I also forgot to tell you that we are all locked in one room and have one chain tied to each of our feet.

Then the boys stopped arguing and we all went to sleep after a long day.

The next morning, we got up and we all tried to find a way to get loose of the chain around our feet. Nothing worked, but Squirrely said that maybe we should chew on the chains and it may break and then Squirrely started to chew on one of the chains on his feet but Roy stopped him from him eating the chain.

I saw a large stone and thought that the rock may break the chains a little bit and make it easier to break the chains. Wing tried first and it loosed one of the chains, but didn't break the chain.

Then I went and got the same thing as Wing: one chain was loose but not broken.

I tried all afternoon and I broke one chain! And the next day, I tried again and I broke the other chain! I was free!

Roy used it next and one chain broke and later the other chain broke and Roy was free, too!

And then the same thing happened with Wing and Squirrely: their chains broke too!

One problem: how to get out but that wasn't a problem because I could just pick the lock and that's what I did.

I picked the lock but I was surprised to see lots of hawks surrounding us when I got only one foot out of the cell. They rammed all of their weight on me and the boys, because they wanted to push their weight on us and make us fall and because there were so many hawks, they could win easy.

We were about to fall, when Wing punched the hawk in front and all the hawks fell, and then we flew away from the fallen hawks but when Wing opened the door that lead out of the base, he met a hawk that was getting in the door and he got out his knife and  challenged him to a duel. Wing said yes and they fought, jab after jab, block after block and it looks like Wing practiced before and the battle was still rolling on, the two fighting for victory.

They still were fighting after five minutes and some of the hawks were cheering for the hawk that was fighting Wing and even Roy and Squirrely were cheering too, for Wing.

Suddenly, Wing slashed his sword at the hawk and he fell and he lost.

Roy and Squirrely were cheering and then we got out of the base.

Chapter 13: Out of Mexico

We flew away from the hawk base and thought that we have to go somewhere else and I knew that Roy and Squirrely are going to miss their watermelon but we had to leave because of the hawks.

Hazel said that we have two options: go to Europe or go down to Brazil.

We all agreed to go to Brazil and now it's another destination to travel to and another long ride and surviving moment to go.

We would go travel in the morning but for now, we relaxed, for a little bit of sun was still around us and later we had dinner and went to bed.

The next morning we woke up and flew away, seeing lots of palm trees around us and enjoying the moment around us.

We stopped to rest and eat lunch and then we flew again for 3 miles and then relaxed in sun, taking every bit of it in and then we had dinner and went to bed.

The next morning we ate breakfast and flew a little bit and then rested and relaxed in the sun and later had lunch. Then we flew for 4 miles and stopped for dinner and played a game Hazel showed us and then we went to bed.

Chapter 14: The Hunt is Starting

The hunt is on and we have to find Wing and Hazel again. Groan.

And now me and Rloaf are at another meeting with the general and the lieutenant.

"How did they escape?!" screamed the general.

"Sir, the count is here" said the lieutenant.

"Send him in."

"Count."

"General."

"I've been informed by your lieutenant that the owls Wing, Hazel, Roy and Squirrely have escaped from your base" said the count.

"Count, we watched their every move and tried not to let them escape-" said the general.

"Which you did, and now we need to fix that" cut in the count.

"Lieutenant, send the troops" commanded the count.

"But, sir, I only take orders from the gen-" said the lieutenant.

"Do it" cut in the count.

They went outside and the hawks lined up in rows of five and the count looked at each hawk, seeing their lack of character in them.

"I am going to need ten of your hawks and I am watching each and every one of them" said the count.

In five minutes, he chose only two hawks and turned down eight.

"Your soldiers are very bad indeed" said the count. "You need better soldiers than this" said the count, pointing to the hawk he just turned down.

"I forgot something" said the count. I need Dresfer and Rloaf too."

He finally got the ten hawks he needed and then the count, the ten hawks, Dresfer and Rloaf left the base and headed for Brazil, the place where they would find the owls.

Chapter 15: Brazil

After four days of traveling to Brazil, we still were in Mexico but close to the border, and right now, we are sitting in the sun and eating our dinner. We were all silent when we ate and were thankful that we all got out of the base and are all safe but nobody said or murmured a word when we escaped and right now.

I made up a song|poem after dinner, because I was a bit bored.

"All was silent, all was merry, all was good in the land of owls.

All but one was heard, an owl named Wing was sitting alone, always alone but the

balance broke, and war began.

Piece by piece, happiness broke and all that lived before had died but very few had still

survived.

Wing was one that survived but he was alone, alone from help and matters had

changed.

His homeland attacked, the hawks to blame, Wing will make them pay.

Suddenly he was captured by the hawks, caught like a mouse and his freedom was

locked.

He escaped from the hawks and they were sure mad but he had to escape because they

were bad.

When he escaped from the base, he heard a noise but he didn't hide, for it was two owl

boys who made the noise.

They traveled together, never alone and hope had filled them bone by bone.

The trio was captured by the hawks but with skill and cunning, they escaped the base.

They got caught by the hawks again but an owl named Roslet rescued them with a

strange tool.

Roslet lead them to the U.S.A and they went to a camp in Montana.

There was an attack on the camp and Roslet and the other camp people went to the the

tunnels.

They lost Roslet and the others and later met Hazel.

Suddenly Hazel got taken by Dresfer and now the boys knew him.

They found the end of the tunnels and traveled to Mexico.

Wing found Hazel in a base and he freed her from the jail.

They got lost but Roy and Squirrely found Wing and Hazel in the sky.

They're traveling to Brazil and that's where we're going right now."

And that's the end of my story and the poem right now.

Now we're going to sleep and now my mood has changed from dark to light.

The next morning, we woke up to a new day of traveling and relaxing and now the journey is going farther and farther away from home.

We traveled for a little bit and then we rested and ate lunch and after we flew a few miles and ate dinner and went to bed.

The next morning we had breakfast and flew for a tiny bit. We just reached the Mexican border and are now entering Guatemala.

We ate lunch and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon and we not traveling until the next morning.

The next morning we had breakfast and flew for a couple of miles and then we had lunch and enjoyed the sun and had fun for a little bit and later had dinner and went to bed.

5 days later.

We reached Costa Rica and are still hundreds of miles from Brazil. When do we finally get to Rio? When do we get to Brazil? But we can wait. The closer we get, the more hope we have.

We traveled for a little bit and then we ate lunch and relaxed. We played a game and talked for a bit. Just fun. Then we ate dinner and went to bed.

The next morning we had breakfast and flew for a few miles and then we had lunch. Then we flew again and later relaxed and ate dinner and then we went to sleep.

53 days later.

We finally arrived in Brazil! At last, we made it! We're at the Amazon River right now and are going to Rio!

"Are you going to Carnival?" a parrot asked me.

"I don't know" I answered.

"It's the biggest party in the world!" he said.

"I thought Mardi Gras was the biggest" said Squirrely.

"No, but the second biggest" answered the parrot. "It's the main event in Rio, and it's lots of fun." "You get to dress up in costumes, and you get to..."

The parrot kept talking, even though they weren't listening anymore.

"I think Carnival's in three days" said Wing.

"Brazil's like the Jungle Book" I thought.

"But how do three owls get into Carnival, because there are no owls in Rio and because of the heat and get away from the crowd?" asked Squirrely.

"No clue, but we'll cross that bridge later" answered Wing.

"But guys, we're in Brazil, the land of sun and relaxing" said Roy. "Why don't we just relax?"

"Roy, Brazil's the land of coffee and high economy" "Also the land of many, many humans"  said Hazel.

"Oh."

We ate dinner and went to bed.

It's pretty weird when you're sleeping in the jungle and bugs are swarming around you, just giving you pain and then you wake up and start yelling at the bugs, waving your wings around, scaring them off but they come back, with a bigger mob and start biting at you but later, you fall asleep.
